DEPARTMENT ORDER # 7, 2022-2023<\/strong><\/p>\n

28th<\/sup> Encampment of the Department of Tennessee<\/strong><\/p>\n

REGISTRATION FORM<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

Brothers,<\/p>\n

This is an extension of Department Order #6, which detailed the early notification of the annual Encampment.\u00a0 Please re-read that Department Order for additional context.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. The 28th<\/sup> Department Encampment will be held at Shiloh National Battlefield on the 18th<\/sup> of March 2023.

    As our business meeting rarely takes all day, the intent is to meet, have lunch, and then there are other events in the works.\u00a0 We will be spending time with the new Auxiliary to the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War as they come into existence.\u00a0 We are hoping some to take some time to honor the Boys in Blue who fought at Shiloh.\u00a0 We are planning an informal dinner on Saturday night near the park (target: Hagy\u2019s Catfish Hotel). An agenda will be sent out prior to the Encampment.\u00a0 The Department Council will meet prior to the Encampment (either the morning of, or virtually beforehand).

  2. Registration for the Encampment is beginning effective this order.

    1. A Registration Form is attached to this Order, and will be posted on the Department website. Registrations should be sent to:

    2. A block of rooms has been made available at The Holiday Inn Express, 2106 US Hwy 72W, Corinth, MS 38835 [662.287.1407].\u00a0 Twenty rooms have been allotted at a rate of $114 per night.\u00a0 The rate may decrease with market rate over time, yet we are secure that it will not be above this if you get a reservation prior to 17 February 2023.\u00a0 To take advantage of the rate, tell them you are with the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.\u00a0 The discount code is \u201cCIVIL WAR\u201d.\u00a0 You must call the local number<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      1. If there are agenda items from Brothers and the Camps, please begin forwarding them to the Department Secretary \/ Treasurer (deptsectreas@suvcwdepttn.org<\/a>).

      2. One purpose of the meeting will be to make revisions to our By-Laws as requested by National. These will be issued as a pre-read in the coming weeks.

      3. David DuBrucq, PDC remains head of a nominating committee for Department Officers for 2023-2024. The remainder of the committee shall be the Camp Commanders (including the future Capt. Asa N. \u201cBlack Hawk\u201d Hays Camp #81).\u00a0 Brothers who are interested in an elected or appointed Department role should contact Br. DuBrucq (sockettuem@att.net<\/a>) to help the committee in their work.

      4. Camp Commanders are instructed to provide a list of delegates and alternates for their Camps to the Department Secretary by 04 March 2023. The count of delegates per Camp is outlined in the CC&R Chapter II, Article II, 1 (a) (b) (c) (d).\u00a0 Camp Secretaries should issue delegate cards prior.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
