It is my intent to focus on the <br \/>core roles of our Department and Camps as it is clear we need to build depth of roster.\u00a0 I consider the core roles to be: Commander, Sr. Vice Commander, Jr. Vice Commander, Secretary, Treasurer, Patriotic Instructor and Chaplain.\u00a0 Without these roles our Camps and Department does not function well<br \/><br \/><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li>As discussed at Encampment, my focus as Department Commander will be growing our leadership.\u00a0 We are a bottom-up organization, Camps are the heart of our organization.\u00a0 That being said, National and Department have a responsibility to help train and coach downward.\u00a0 My expectation is that all Department Officers will reach out to their Camp counterparts and provide coaching and help.\u00a0 Follow the principle:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Just do it. If you aren\u2019t absolutely sure what you\u2019re supposed to be doing, just ask. <\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>One great resource for your role is the National website.\u00a0 Another is to reach up to your National counterpart and ask for help and guidance.<br \/><br \/>If you are a Department Officer, and the Camp does not have a person in your role. <em>Assist the camp in the work!<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>There remains emphasis on the timely submission of reports by the National Organization.
