SPECIAL ORDER #1, 2025-2026
31st Department Encampment<\/strong><\/p>\n

Brothers of the Department,<\/p>\n

It is my pleasure to announce the initial details of the 31st\u00a0Annual Encampment of the Department of Tennessee.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. The Department Encampment will be held on 18th<\/sup>April 2026 at the Williamson County Public Library, 1314 Columbia Ave, Franklin, TN 37064\n
      \n
    1. My thanks to Fort Donelson Camp #62 for volunteering to host the Encampment<\/li>\n
    2. Details and registration for the Encampment are attached to this Order.<\/li>\n
    3. The Department Encampment will occur concurrently with the annual meeting of Joseph H. Rider #62 Auxiliary to the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. The Auxiliary is a tremendous support to our Order and we a pleased to meet together.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
    4. Nominations open for the Department of Tennessee Charles Henry Engle, Jr. Award of Appreciation. With submissions given by 16th<\/sup> February 2026.\n
        \n
      1. Department Bylaws Article XVI, \u00a72: The award shall be conferred by the Department Commander upon any individual or entity who, in the judgment of a three-member panel appointed by the Department Commander, has through his\/her actions, words, and\/or deeds significantly contributed to the furtherance of the memory of the Grand Army of the Republic within the Boundaries of the Department of Tennessee. Recommendations for possible recipients of said award shall be submitted, along with a one-page description of the contribution made, to the Department Secretary \/ Treasurer no later than two (2) months prior to the annual Department Encampment. Recipients of the award shall be publicly announced and a certificate and\/or other appropriate symbol of the award presented at the annual Department of Tennessee Encampment. No more than three (3) recipients shall be selected for the award in any one year.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
      2. Resolutions to come before the Department must be received by 16th<\/sup> February 2026 (Department By-laws Article III, \u00a75).<\/li>\n
      3. Amendments to the Bylaws to come before the department must be received by 16th<\/sup> February 2026 (Department By-laws Article XIV, \u00a72).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Brothers interested in running for elected Department Office are encouraged to announce their intentions on the Department Facebook page with a brief commentary of their qualifications.\u00a0 Elected offices are Department Commander, Department Sr. Vice Commander, Department Jr. Vice Commander, Department Secretary \/ Treasurer, Department Council.<\/p>\n
